More Canadian National Parks

We really enjoyed the Canadian National Parks--Banff, Jasper, Yoho and Glacier. We had a fabulous "Canada Day" (1 July) and it even snowed on us!! Hard to believe it was snowing in July!
The scenery along the Icefields Parkway is spectacular with towering mountains, glaciers, flowing rivers and streams, waterfalls, etc. (Seems I'm saying this in every blog entry now...)
Even in a very crowded overlook (Emerald Lake in Yoho) with multiple busloads of tourists, we managed to find a secluded spot for a picnic lunch with our friends, Nancy & Dick, who are making this journey with us.
Alan and I had a fabulous rafting trip and it was quite exciting. Our guide was thrown the length of the raft in one rapid (some of the folks grabbed her and she stayed in the raft) and the guides indicated that this was the most water they'd had in many of these rapids in the last 7-8 years! They were a BLAST! Definitely an e-ticket ride! Since I didn't bring my underwater housing, I don't have any photos to share.

We continue to see a variety of wildlife. Sometimes we are able to get a few photos and other times we have the "photos" in our minds.
We left the Banff/Jasper area on 3 July and are currently in Grande Prairie, Alberta for a much needed laundry and re-provisioning stop (there's a Costco here). Tomorrow we will continue the journey north toward Alaska.
